 Arnold FAQ:

Q: Where do I find all the information for the Arnold Weightlifting Championships? A: You can find all the detailed information for the Arnold Weightlifting Championships on this PDF : 2016 Participant Information

Q: Can anyone lift in this years Arnold Weightlifting Championships? A: Yes! This year is an open format which means that there are no qualification totals needed to enter. Also, there are sections for Youth (17 – Under), Junior (18-20), Senior (open), Master (35+) lifters, and two special divisions Functional Fitness and Adaptive Athlete. Please see above PDF for more.

Q: When does Registration End? A: Once registration is announced in December 2014, we will have the closing dates listed.

Q: What is the lifting Schedule A: The exact lifting schedule will not be available until the start list is released after registration ends. A general guideline for divisions exist:

  • Thursday Afternoon -Masters
  • Friday – Masters/Functional Fitness/Junior/Open Athletes
  • Saturday – Open and Qualifier Athletes
  • Sunday – Youth, Junior, and Open Overflow athletes.

The meet sessions are NOT run by weight classes. Athletes are grouped by their entry total into sessions with athletes lifting similar weight. Please see above PDF for more.

Q: How is the Arnold Weightlifting Championship Scored? A: The Arnold Weightlifting Championship DOES NOT run by “weight class”! It runs by division and athletes will be grouped together based on their announced entry totals. Scoring will then be done overall based on the NCS 2015 five – year averages for Youth and Junior lifters, and the Seniors on the 2015 WWC placement and scoring tables. This is different than we have ever done! This is different than the Sinclair total and we hope will put our athletes on an even more level playing field! The International Qualifying portion will be run by traditional USA Weightlifting and IWF rules. Masters – Will be scored as a division using the Sinclair total

Q: What if I can’t make weight? A: Again, the Arnold Weightlifting Championships are not run by weight classes. This means that if you can’t make weight it will not affect if or when you’ll lift. You don’t even have to let us know! We’ll be there with the scale… we’ll know… Now if you’re in the Pan Am Qualifier this would be an issue.
