QUOTE: " As a chiropractor, people ask me 'What can i do to strengthen my spine? and I simply reply, 'What you need to do is probably something you aren't willing to do, which would be the Clean and Jerk and the Snatch.... because you are training the intraspinal muscle like no other lift in the world ! "

So, you won the bronze Brazilian Jujtisu?

[Editor's Note: 3rd in the Men's Gi Purple Belt Light Weight at the 2007 Arnold Grappling Classic] Yes, I have been doing Brazilian Jujitsu for four years i have a school in Tupelo, MS so I train in that, I also train in Mixed Martial Arts fighting, and Olympic style weightlifting.

what got you into OL?

I have been doing it for about year now, what got me into it was two things, one was that they are the strongest athletes on the planet and most explosive athletes and second the challenge of the technique --- when I saw the technique, much like Brazilian Jujitsu, THAT really excited me because its all in the mind --- I love seeing people regardless of their size or their physical limitations working with what they have physically.

Tell me about your club affiliation?

I am affiliated with OBX for weightlifting and Memphis Judo and Jujitsu in the fighting. I have been studying for four years, I got into jujitsu when I was 33 years old, much for the same reason --- I was a bodybuilder before i got into this type of training and powerlifter --- those are fun sports, but I found this is the natural evolution as far as technique and being challenging. I was more excited about pulling myself under the weight and seeing how far my body can go and how much I can do performance wise.

see you next year!
