Coach's Message - 02 Aug 2007

The Collegiates were moved to Reno Nevada -- due to a great opportunity and promoting the sport -- TV was involved, including a live web broadcast and we were also part of something much bigger. This was Tony's third Collegiate --- our hope was that he would improve upon his Arnold total that garnered him his first national qualifier. We were both excited to be out in Reno with Tony representing The Ohio State University. Many of the same people that were at the Arnold: lifting coaching, and officiating were also at Reno.

Tony had a five for six day, with two personal records in the snatch lift with 131 and 133kg, and an overall total of 299kg which was a 15 kilo improvement from the year before. In addition, Tony placed in the top six of the super heavyweight class. Way to go Tony.

Pittsburgh Barbell had a good showing also.

This photo was taken at the conclusion of the 2007 US Nationals. Zach and Tony in their first Nationals ever, both lifted fantastically going five for six, and setting multiple PRs. This was Columbus Weightlifting's best showing at the Nationals --- and next year in Columbus, OH, for the 2008 Nationals, a qualifier for the Beijing Olympics, we will have a bigger showing with two or three more lifters that will compete with Tony and Zach.
